Welcome to Hopper's Hippie Art Gallery.

Harley's Rock Inn Corporate Logo created 2000There was a time in my life, when being able to spend time creating was only a wishful idea of an overwhelmed chick in a crazy paced career world. But, selling our business and moving to Hawaii changed all that.

Living on the island is a magical experience. Natural beauty is everywhere you look. Art and music is all around you. There is an element here that I have not found on the mainland. Time moves more slowly here. People have a much more easy going attitude and are much more receptive to creative and different forms or art. The artist community is large, welcoming and filled with a wide variety of unique and sometimes very different souls. This wonderful environment, has given me the freedom and confidence to experiment with my own designs, allowing me a feeling of added freedom in my creations. In other words…it has allowed me to be the little hippie chick I always wanted to be.

DubieI guess that is how I got started…I just love to draw. I remember being a little kid, and watching my mother paint a picture of cats, my brother, a clown. I remember sitting with my brother and sister and mother for hours coloring pictures. You see, I was blessed with a very creative mother, and even though she has not shown many people her talent, I for one was one of the few people allowed the honor of knowing her true potential. Thank you mom, because I think a little of your wonderful talent must have rubbed off. As a little kid, I would sit and draw pictures by the hour. As a teenager, I would paint Christmas pictures as gifts for family of little mice in Christmas dress around festive trees and such. And, as a young adult, I tested my talents with some wildlife drawings and occasional window painting jobs. But, I was always too busy to have the time to really experience the love of art and creating.

I think back now, at how corny some of the drawings were, and know that even as a kid, I loved the pen and pencil. A hectic career and living on the mainland just didn’t seem to fit my unique art or life style. So, that is why we came here. Living on the islands, has allowed us a much more simple lifestyle, and being a hippie chick, this suits me just fine. So, by living simply I am able to spend many of my hours drawing but it also creates a unique challenge in finding good canvases for painting. Sometimes you just paint whatever is available around you. “Dubie” was exactly that kind of canvas. It seems kind of crazy for a chick to take on a project as large as an entire VW Bus, but that is what I did. Make sure to check out the “Dubie” page for a complete story, and pictures on the TWO paint jobs this poor little bus endured. honu hand painted Koa plate with local honu turtles

Finishing the bus, allowed me the time to focus on which direction my art would take. I found that I love to paint with wild colors and design. I experienced a real found love for pen and ink drawing in the creation of the Harley’s Rock Inn logo and menu. This was only the beginning as, I dreamed for more. Soon, new t-shirt designs, paintings, murals and such started to appear. That is when, things had to change and I guess that is where everything just kind of started to focus on my art. As, I did more creative design; it became very clear that my love was definitely in that direction.

My art has now taken on a much more focused message. I believe that our world is much to stressed, hectic, dog eat dog, if you know what I mean. So, my art is very focused on peace and love and creative freedom for all. I for one have experienced the true devastation of my beloved art being destroyed by an uncaring individual. I strongly believe that we all have the right to shine in which ever area we can. If that is drawing, or painting, or singing, or whatever…it really doesn’t matter, It is just, that no one has the right to discourage you, to stop you, or to intimidate you into not pursuing your creative dream.

So, take a look at my groovy stuff. I will be adding items as soon as they are created. I hope to very soon, have a full line of “peace and love” merchandise for all of my hippie loving friends. I also hope to start a line of posters, as well as stickers, patches, t-shirts, and of course one of a kind originals. Dubie

I can also be hired for original mural or auto detailing. No idea is really too big or too small for me. “Dubie” the magic bus, can be rented for parties or events. Please feel free to contact me by going to the “talk to hopper” page and sending me an email. I really would love to talk to you.

Okay, back to the drawing board for me. I hope you have fun shopping for groovy stuff. Have fun, and keep watching for more of my groovy stuff often.

Peace and love to each of you.
